Privacy Policy

In short

• We collect what we need to run ClassMaster: your account details, your practice, and anything you choose to upload.
• We use it to help you prepare for the BECE, to show your progress to the people you choose, and to make ClassMaster better.
• We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show you third-party advertising.
• You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, at any time by emailing info@classmastergh.com.

What we collect

You give us

• Account details: your name, your phone number or Google account email, and your role (learner, teacher or head teacher).
• About your studies: your class, your school, the senior high school you are aiming for, how confident you feel in each subject, and your study days and times.
• Report recipients: the phone number of a parent or guardian you ask us to send progress reports to.
• Uploads: photos of questions, essays or written answers you submit for help or marking, and a profile picture if you add one.
• Teaching work: for teachers, your schemes of work, timetable and lesson notes.
• School details: for head teachers, your school's name, location, class lists and parents' phone numbers.

We record as you use ClassMaster

• Practice: the questions you answer, the options you choose, how sure you said you were, how long you spent, and your marks.
• Usage: which pages you open, when you practise, and roughly how much mobile data the app used, so reports can show it.
• Technical details: your device type, browser and approximate location from your internet connection, collected through Google Analytics.

Payments

Payments are handled by Paystack. We receive confirmation that a payment was made and for which plan. We never see or store your card or mobile money details.

How we use it

• To run your account and sign you in.
• To choose practice questions, score your readiness, and build your study plan.
• To mark essays and written answers, and to explain questions you photograph.
• To send the reminders you ask for, and the progress reports you set up, by SMS or notification.
• To let your school and your teachers see your progress, if you joined through your school.
• To find the mistakes learners commonly make, so we can explain them better. We look at answers across many learners for this, not at you as an individual.
• To keep ClassMaster secure and to fix problems.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with the services that run ClassMaster for us, and only what each one needs:

• Google Firebase: hosts the app, your account and your data.
• Google Gemini: reads photos and essays you submit so they can be marked or explained, and helps teachers draft lesson notes.
• Arkesel: delivers SMS sign-in codes, reminders and progress reports.
• Paystack: processes payments.
• Resend: delivers email.
• Google Analytics: tells us how the website and app are used.

Some of these services store data outside Ghana. We also share data where the law requires it.

Inside ClassMaster, your progress is visible to the people you have chosen or who are responsible for you: your school's head teachers and your teachers if you joined through your school, and the report recipients you add.

Learners under 18

Most of our learners are in junior high school and under 18. A learner signing up on their own should do so with a parent or guardian's knowledge. When a school adds its learners, the school is responsible for having the agreement of each learner's parent or guardian.

A parent or guardian can contact us at any time to see what we hold about their child, or to have it deleted.

Schools

When a school uses ClassMaster, the school decides which learners and teachers join, and can see their progress. We process that data to provide the service to the school, and we do not use it for anything else.

On your device

ClassMaster saves questions, your progress and your settings on your phone so you can practise without data. This stays on your device until you uninstall the app or clear the site's data in your browser's settings.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is in use. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days. We may keep payment records for longer where the law requires it.

Your rights

Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy,
• correct anything that is wrong,
• delete your data, or stop using it for a particular purpose.

Email info@classmastergh.com from the phone number or email on your account, or tell us how to confirm it is you. We will reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.

Security

Your data travels over encrypted connections and is stored with Google Firebase. Access to it is controlled by rules that let each person see only what their role allows: a learner sees their own work, and a teacher sees only their own school's learners. Payments and marking are checked on our servers, not on your device.

If you think you have found a security problem, please email info@classmastergh.com and we will look into it straight away.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
